Description:
"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world; indeed, it is the only thing that ever has." -Margaret Mead
What now? With a new President and a Congress with many new members, now is great time to encourage a shift in U.S. policies. We need to build relationships with new members and strengthen our relationships with returning members. Join our group today, and start communicating with fellow advocates.
Together, we can make fighting global poverty a priority for our elected officials!
The CARE Policy and Advocacy Blog provides a forum to discuss US Government policy as it relates to the anti-poverty movement. The blog is operated by CARE staff and volunteers.
The content of each post and each comment represent the views of that author and does not necessarily reflect the views of CARE. CARE is a non-partisan organization and does not support or oppose any candidate for elected office, and any posts expressing support or opposition for a candidate are not endorsed by CARE.

National Day of Action
Created: 09-15-2008
Description: People around your state, the country and our world are joining together, calling out with one voice:
MAKE POVERTY HISTORY!
CARE’s National Day of Action will take place on October 17, 2008 – the UN's International Day for the Eradication of Poverty. On this day, events around the world will promote solidarity with people and communities everywhere who struggle with extreme poverty every day, especially marginalized women and girls.
Do your part by joining other passionate and dedicated individuals who believe the United States can do more to help families and communities overcome poverty. Together, we can send a strong message to the next President of the United States that Americans care deeply about the plight of the world’s poor.
It's easy to get involved! CARE will provide tools, information and materials — you just need to add friends! Gather your family, coworkers, teammates and classmates — whomever you’d like — to explore concrete actions we can all take to advance U.S. policies to empower women and end poverty and injustice in one community after another. Whether your event is a small gathering of friends who are first learning about global poverty, or a large group of people who want to send a powerful message to the next President of the United States, we’ll give you the resources you need to make your National Day of Action event a resounding success!
